The Pentagon has crazy ideas like this all the time. It never leaves the drawing board.

Nah. The Pentagon is full of crazy ideas like this because its staffed by officers and not engineers. It'll be dropped once they see the price tag.

Space rockets have the structural integrity of a stiff water balloon. It'd collapse on landing especially when tanks are empty.

We already have orbital missiles. And medicine is the only thing that is time sensitive and worth extreme efforts to deliver.

@zbigniewstadnik4517 please leave military topics to those of us that actually read military topics.

@alflud what does that have to do with any of this?

Often impossible in disaster/war zones.

The Pentagon is staffed by military officers, not engineers. You think that occurred to the office that proposed this?

We pay for it, dude.

Lose the political garbage

@MoonWeasel23 it would cost a fraction as much to use 10 redundant cargo drones or to simply have redundant supplies at existing depots. And for that same cost you can just build lots of B2s and solve resupply issues by winning the war quickly.

@christophermendez7372 a thousand bucks says otherwise.

@christophermendez7372 it won't be a thing in our lifetimes. I'd bet my life on that.
1
@christophermendez7372 they'll fail.

@christophermendez7372 you think those guys are any less human than the rest of us? Nah, I'm just familiar with the pace science moves at. I recommend Ben Rich's book Skunk Works to show how even straight forward ideas can take an insane amount of manhours to put into practice.

@christophermendez7372 I'm a military historian, bro. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you need to berate everyone. One of the conclusions I've reached is that the inability to distinguish current research from science fiction illustrates a limited understanding of both. The other conclusion I have is trying to predict the future of science is just as accurate as astrology.
