I don’t get the hate on the spindle grill. We have 2 garage kept CTs in my neighborhood. I just pulled in yesterday and saw the late silver one. It still super sexy. Maybe the best.

I’m on the list for an Overtrail but this thing is beautiful, just gorgeous. Definitely gonna aftermarket that HUD. I will say at 2:27 yeah, I was expecting a little more. I thought my iPad was malfunctioning it was so dark but, that’s fine. The hybrid will change the game as the Sequoia has better gas mileage(put it on the upgrade list for me). Wonder what it will be for the GX 🤔

If they could recreate the MR2 and what made it exciting, they could corner the market on affordable reliable convertibles. Here I am saving up for an LC. By the time many get the money, it’ll be worth less and the new model will be out.

Speak for yourself. This was one of the most exciting last minute reveals of last year.

I guess I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t playing about going elsewhere after the unveil of the new WRX. They’re selling the 21s then it’s gonna get rough for a while.
7
@beccab2522 No. Date hasn’t been released as far as i know.

Another great video Kirk. Glad you got a chance to review this one. I hope that Volvo or Lexus jump on producing the first electric convertibles soon and this one would be a great platform.

It’s a classic for sure

I have a forester instead but man….the disrespect. I can’t disrespect crosstrek. Such a great idea and it has an old people base that guarantees it won’t get a quick engine. My dream arsenal is: Every dayer mostly: Electric G wagon w/solar house Saturday night special: Lexus LC500C Just in case/snow day and dog hauler if I wasn’t super into my forester 50th anniversary: 50th anniversary crosstrek with STI bolt ons and moded engine…as STI as possible. Like my Fozzy.

@stormforge68 No idea, I’ll be looking into the RX now that you’ve said that.
3
15:33 I see you man, I see you.

There’s a saying where I’m from: When the Dow gets low the hungriness show.

I’m excited about this EV and the future of Toyota. That said, this is a great entry….for 2016-17. The value isn’t there either. I see where we’re going but this is an overpriced lease at best. I still …maybe want one.
3
Im a super novice when it comes to understanding the industry around EVs past the GM/saturn lease and crush debacle. That always had me keeping an ear out for how “The Man” will fool us into not wanting these things and maybe that’s a bias. I have also only ever had what I thought were adult and realistic expectations for EVs in my life. They are at this point, for people who can afford solar and a second car. That’s my logic and the logic of all of my neighbors who actual have these things. I am working toward solar first and then I’ll look at the market. Anything having to do with charging stations outside of homes/apartments or vacationing in an EV always sounded like “trickledown economics” to me. Ideas for adults to jerk it to.

I finally almost made it to midlife and had plans to finally get this alongside my fozzy. I sat through, the new crap WRX announcement. Push off the idea of a solterra as gas started to go up. Look to the future as everyone spoke of a new world after WW3. Now SOA just shut off the light at the end of the tunnel and closed the mine for an unspecified time. I think it’s just time to pack up my paraphernalia and make that full jump to Toyota/Lexus. They’re building a battery plant here.
2
@crisisrogue8286 that’s the real truth right there. Most people crying about the STI are fans with less money anyway. That Corolla is going to fit right in.
2
I can’t justify the size of the LX for my lifestyle but what’s crazy is that it gets better gas mileage now than the same year GX. I want to get a Lexus but I’m just gonna wait. I need to see the new RX in person.
2
YOU TAKE YOUR WILD DAY DRINKING IDEAS AND YOU GEEIIT OWN OUTTA HERE! YOU LEAVE YOUR KEYS WITH KREIFELS, NOW GEIT! Next you’ll be talking about an all wheel drove brz with 8 speed tranny and 3.6r engine…..hey wait🤔
2
Yikes😬 I’m a forester guy looking at GX because the heritage and vision seems gone. If the make this scionbaru, many STI guys will ride out.
2
They are ramping up the community colleges around here in about 5 counties to prepare for the newly announced battery factory from Toyota. Im excited like it’s my team or they pay me. Housing may not take as much of a hit here now when interest rates rise as they will. Have you seen the announcement about all the cars they will have by 2030? Mark did a video. They sound really impressive. Check it out.
2
@KirkKreifels it’s a better idea to get prepared for the future in general. In my opinion, of course.
2
@alwayne5932 I think we are going to see the two merge at some point. I’m actually eying that RZ 450e now that my dreams have been squashed. They have a Subaru variant but I’m all about the interior this time around.
2
@1984mrdale don’t you do that! Don’t you hurt me!
2
If apple and tesla got together to make cars, the name of the paint color will be “pretentious”. I’m an apple guy and I know that.
2
And bring back the LY!🤤😊
2
@faheemabbas3965 wait, what engine problems?
2
I would love to see Toyotas battery tech in coming ears with that Subaru AWD. Imagine in 5 years a BRZ or STI.
2
@lsu205 the data and outcome is a mixed bag in that. The Hondas that are made there are mostly made in Alabama as in components. Those Hondas so well. The next cars with the most components are far from just made in Alabama and some of them are amongst the most questionable.
1
Can one of you regulars help me get this knife out of my back.
1
@fortheloveofnoise exactly. I’m thinking of getting a sports car and selling my forester for an electric crossover or SUV. I decided on getting a GX after this first year because there’s no way I could trust me and my doggy out there with a battery.
1
You ALL will eat the bugs! You will get into the pod! You WILL like it!
1
I saw this before he commented but he said that it’s pretty much worthless BUT that was in 2012. I look forward to seeing chicks come over with cracked trunks like they come through with cracked cell phones.
1
You say as they scrape the SNOW(AWD) past my neighbors house where they have a paper weight useless SUV hybrid that had the battery just going out and it’s more to replace it than the car is worth so it’s just sitting there next to the new car. That was literally happening as I read your comment. I really want a solution and I’m waiting on Lexus’ version of the solterra before I make a move. Hopefully it will get good mileage and have Subarus AWD with Toyota wheel vectoring 🤞🏾
1
It’s really proving to be a waist of money unless you lease. I was just telling another commenter about these paper weights in peoples front yard sitting next their new ICE.
1
@joshreynolds729 Your comment is not for everybody. It has its truth. I’m a man that had BRZ dreams and kept waiting until I had money past the segment. I was waiting on STI, Toyota, convertible, and all of that. It just has no market. It’s niche. I had to move on to LC500c. However, it’s still a fun car for the segment right? I’ll never disrespect what it is. It DID fill the 86 ask for a time. Now Toyota has some growth and options. It may die in the segment without innovation on the Subaru side. If only subaru had the R&D interest and cash. In my wildest dreams it’s a reliable Audi TTC with Miata reliability and functional measurements.
1
@JT-fq2bl The Problem is that we have this attitude of not wanting to spend millions to low billions on ideas from opposing parties that could help us (like new grid infrastructure) but then, …..when you got polled about sending money to Ukraine, what did tell them?
1
There’s a guy in the comments that thinks 2035 - 2024 = 2024 - 1900 or 11 = 124. EVs and many other ideas are going to seem like they can’t work if we continue to not think like adults. So basically, we are doomed and the Illuminati is right.
1
7:55 🤔🤔🤔1:20 Yikes. Hope they get it right🥴
1
I’m driving out the gas station using premium at $4.16 (Feb.24) JUST thinking about the Subaru version of this car if we survive this war. How apropos.
1
What if they had a Subaru AWD Camry outback thing….then made a Lexus version?
1
Oh boo hoo, can you imagine finally getting to place of financial chill and waiting 2 years for an STI…. Then the last 4 months happen. Your pain is nothing compared to mine buddy…. NOTHING😭
1
Holy crap

If apple jumps
1
@shikcheese3234 I bet you think you’re a genius pointing out obvious things. Sales went up the month the next WRX was unveiled. Geez.
1
I agree but I do think that people with the money and one car that live in the city will climb on. Really, this is a great lease and wait a few years. I mean, unless you have the money it’s best to wait anyway.
1
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the tech in that Toyota/Subaru/Lexus cross over. The Subaru is called the solterra
1
@StormBringer- Yeah buddy!!! The solterra and BZ4X (what an awful name) are the same car and I’m (ahem) hoping there will be some cross over tech in it. Wouldn’t it be great if it had Subies AWD? Also, Toyota has a prototype and quit a few patents on wheel basses that turn all 90 degrees. How far is that from torque vectoring? An all electric SubieToyota with AWD and 90 degree wheel turns on all 4 wheels, if only Santa was real.
