What are your thoughts on the Roberts Commission report?
On December 18, 1941, the U.S. government ordered Chief Judge Owen J. Roberts of the Supreme Court to organize the so-called Roberts Commission of Inquiry to investigate the cause of defeat and the truth behind the attack on Pearl Harbor.
According to this Roberts Commission report,
・On January 24, 1941, Secretary of the Navy Knox addressed Secretary of War Stimson in an official document on preparations for war between the United States and Japan.
・On November 24, 1941, the Chief of Naval Operations sent a message to Admiral Kimmel, advising the Admiralty that Japan could launch a surprise attack on either the Philippines or Guam.
・On November 27, 1941, Marshall, Chief of the U.S. General Staff, sent an order to Lieutenant General Short, commander of the Army in Hawaii, saying, "The U.S.-Japan negotiations have ended in catastrophe. There is no prospect of resuming them. It is uncertain whether Japan will take action or not, and it is certain that the moment has now been reached for that action."
・On November 27, 1940, in the U.S. Navy, the Chief of Operations Headquarters told Admiral Kimmel, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet, “U.S.-Japan negotiations have broken down. You can think of it as a warning of war," by telegraph.
