+KarlEller didn't find any source in english. And nobody shoots whales while they under the surface
12
+ TheGoldenCaulk Marstar used brass bullets, not original AP cartridge
7
+Statusinator they added wheels on the later versions
5
Lol, "swarming". Nope, they just waited when (and if) Panzers get close
5
You got wrong picture of 'communism' in general and USSR in particular. It wasn't so simple
2
Masrtar tinkered with cartridge. The used brass bullet, and, AFAIR, less gunpowder
2
Victoria Seras did that already
2
quarter automatic, yes
2
You got it entirely wrong. PTRD was built as "quarter-automatic" weapon(eject spent case). BUT, because it's a war-time product, rushed into production, it had a bunch of problems. In particular - fail to open the breech and eject spent case. PTRD crew members routinely used wooden mallet to open the breech. So, it's not "to help extract case in harsh condition". It's harsh conditions that prevent rifle to work as planned and extract the case
1
In reality, they continued to work on the rifle issues long after. And failed to resolve major problems on PTRD and PTRS.
1
germans weren't exactly '"at front door' in the august
1
Why do you need such specialized weapon?
1
They still had to work out the quirks. Crew members often had to use wooden mallet to extract spent case
1
You lost :D
1
just check the recent videos from Ukraine in the comment section.
1
I can't paste anything in the youtube comments. It didn't work reliably, yes. Due to rushed development and production cycle PTRD has a lot of problems, and not all of them were worked out eventually. Faulty extraction and breech jams are among them
1
Nope, lol. It isn't extra. Degtyarov could just create rifle with manual operation and save himself from some headaches
1
AFAIR, they all cycled manually
1
There was no lefties in the Red Army
1
you can't produce bazooka or panzerfaust like that
1
AFAIR, it was PTRS. Nope, my bad. PTRD it is
1
+MrNewAbortion1 nope, it woudn't
1
I don't see any weapon-related research under his name.
1
Kurds do all sorts of the things. Optic sights included
1
Go to East Ukraine.
1
You can go to the other side.
1
It's a simple projectile, you can't just shoot at tank in hope of hitting something critical
1
surprisingly, no. Modern AFV were designed to withstand autocannon shells, at least in frontal projection
1
PTRD/PTRS accuracy doesn't allow such tricks
1
no thumbs broken so far
1
they didn't have enough M2?
1
Hasan Michael Marstar also used brass bullets, not the original armor piercing BS-41 or BS-32
1
It's not enough to just hit the tank "anywhere". AP bullet can't do much harm.
