  1. They won't let you join just because you are 31? This is the army you're talking about, not the Marines? It has to be more than that. I enlisted in the army at age 34, not that I recommend anyone enlisting in the military in your thirties, And if you do enlist, do it in the air force or maybe navy or coast guard instead of the army. But there has to be more to it with your problems of being accepted than just being 31. The age limit should still be at least 35. The only branch I'm aware of now that doesn't let people in their thirties enlist would be the Marines.

  13. i joined at 34 myself in the army. i'm 40 now and still on active duty. good luck to you but hopefully you're going in guard/reserve instead of active duty. i'd personally advise anyone 30 and over who are considering enlisting to join air force if they are going to do active duty. being in the barracks sucks more when youre older and in the army if we're not married we aren't guaranteed to move out the barracks until we're e6 as opposed to air force who are allowed to move out at e4.

  14.  @Penelope2024  really don't know how long it can take for the age waivers but hopefully not too long. If by chance it doesn't work out (I think it should) then at least try air force (arguably better deal overall. the army will treat you more like a kid) reserve or guard since I'm sure their age limit is still 39 . You might have to wait a few months but I don't think it's that big of a deal since it is national guard rather than active duty where you'd have to spend that much more time being pushed around by sergeants way way younger than you and making you wish more you had have joined back then so you could be at least an E6 if not E7 or E8 by your age.

  18. when i went in late 2017 i had heard that drill sergeants don't cuss anymore, yet I heard almost all of my 13 company drill sergeants cuss with the exception of 1, who would constantly say "doggone" Even our 1st sergeant cussed.
