Not as severe as Soviet Union where it spent just 10 years in Afghanistan and ended up dismantling the whole Soviet Union😊 shortly after

Nope. Percival's attitude toward the Japanese itself, regarding them as inferior, shown that he already underestimated the enemy. With that kind of mindset, he already lost the war.

In contrast, General Kuribayashi during the defense of Iwo Jima worried about US capability. He had different mindset than his peers. The result was bloody carnage for the US Marines.

Actually, the most easiest campaign for the Axis. British and Dutch were too busy with affairs at mainland Europe. And what they had in their Pacific colonies were just colonial troops.. these troops meant to repel against local insurgencies.. but grossly lacked the ability of a conventional army to defend from foreign invasion. Look at the Japanese, as soon as they faced the real armed forces: US Marines & US successfully established the winning ground at Battle of Midway, the path to their defeat came very quickly.

Then again.. unlike Ukraine who got full supports from Poland and the Baltic countries (because these were the victim of Russian imperialism in the past)... Iraq didn't have support from Middle East (because then again Saddam Hussein was such an *shhole, he invaded Kuwait & almost part of Saudi's oil field in 1991).

@scottgarner8270 No, I mean on the Battle of Iwo Jima alone.. the casualties on the US side could have been lower during the operation, if Gen. Kuribayashi wasn't assigned for the defense Iwo Jima. Imperial Japan industrial capability obviously outmatched by US, combined with their fatalistic view of life (better to die/suicide for Emperor than surrender and regroup), obviously they had higher casualties in every battles even before the atomic bombs were dropped. Gen. Kuribayashi however was different. He didn't use pointless suicidal tactics, made use of Iwo Jima terrain and caves, and actually was one of the few Japanese generals who were educated in USA and pessimistic about declaration of war to USA.

@NaturallyTheCat No. We don't need US, Russia, or China.. we already seen enough of them in the Cold War. There must be a new, nonbloc power.
