@Setupthemabomb Not really. The Mongols did several attempts to punish Java, not just once, but it were all failed. Odorico of Pordenonne recorded these events when he was in transit in Java during the middle of his journey to China.

For the context: Odorico of Pordenonne visited Java during the reign of Jayanegara in Majapahit Empire (2nd king of Majapahit) & reported that the Javanese kingdom had seven vassals under it & engaged in several wars with Yuan dynasty but successfully repelled it.. this was already many years after the event of the Sino-Mongol's defeat from Raden Wijaya (1st king of Majapahit)

@bigtoosh Majapahit wasn't formed yet after the death of King Kertanegara of Singhasari (the one who refused to become the vassal of Yuan dynasty) in the hand of Jayakatwang of Kediri. Raden Wijaya was his son & he and the scattered remnants of the-then disorganized Singhasari soldiers then saw opportunity when Yuan expedition forces came. He persuaded the Yuan soldiers that Kediri kingdom = Singhasari kingdom who dared against the Yuan (deception). After the death of Jayakatwang and then Yuan soldiers were defeated by Raden Wijaya soldiers, the new kingdom was built and based as the successor of Singhasari kingdom: Majapahit kingdom, later became empire.

@Setupthemabomb Local sources such as Kidung Panji Wijayakrama , artefacts of chinese gunpowder cannons found under the depth of Brantas river, and the fact that King Jayakatwang of Kediri and its whole kingdom was defeated & vanished because of the Yuan dynasty invasion were the testament of the invasion ever occured in large scale. Note that Jayakatwang of Kediri was mistaken by the Yuan forces as "Kertanegara of Singhasari" who refused to pay tribute and insulted the Yuan emissary. It was Raden Wijaya who led the Yuan into believing that, before Raden Wijaya defeated the much fatigued Yuan soldiers later during the victory celebration. Kertanegara was actually Raden Wijaya's father who was murdered by Jayakatwang. So Raden Wijaya killed two birds with one stone. Years after Raden Wijaya and Majapahit Empire's establishment, Ibn Batutta & Odorico of Pordenonne visited in the region and did recorded several Yuan invasions which were failed. Local sources such as Gunung Butak inscription in 1294 AD recorded that the again Sino-Mongolian forces were intercepted and defeated by Arya Adikara.
