Well I'm afraid our (Indonesian) overly ambitious new capital would share the same fate. Especially since our national budget actually should be used for other priority like building new industrial zones and focusing on economic recovery after COVID19. There are many symptoms such as: goods and oil price increase, unemployment is soaring high right now, highest since decade, government job recruitments have been reduced because of budget limitation.. greatly reduced job vacancy available, etc. Unfortunately people (especially politicians) are too stubborn and unwilling to listen to criticism/suggestions. Our oligarch in power also currently submit a draft in which citizens cannot criticize their politicians in DPR/legislative function (National Assembly)

@raihanrusli2720 Triggering economic activities outside Java? No, 🙄because 1) Current economy of Indonesia is in shamble after COVID19 two years of recessions, 2) Increasing debt by building such utopist extravagant capital from scratch, 3) It is only an administrative capital and not industrial powerhouse, and only benefitting East Kalimantan province, private sector investors plus rich politicians.. Government instead should stimulate economic development outside Java island by building industrial zones in each provinces of Indonesia.

@raihanrusli2720 It's common for stubborn Indonesians like you to downplay things and doesn't have long term thinking. Remember when people like you downplaying the COVID19 and its effects on economy before the breakout in March 2020?? Same with our future national debt. Too much spending. The symptoms is clear. Government job openings are reduced because we can't pay them anymore, goods and oil price rises, tax increases, there are layoffs everywhere because government couldn't give stimulus/incentives to companies/businesses

@raihanrusli2720 Also you have such misplaced nationalism attitude. You don't even count current situation, with Indonesian goverment being infested by corrupt politicians. You know Ferdy Sambo and Hendra of the police forces and Gambling Consortium scandal case recently revealed? It is just a tip of a much bigger iceberg.
