One of the example of Chinese exploiting the local population was "ca bau kan" practice (dear feminists, try to make study on this), or another exploitation like slavery in Deli plantation and Sawahlunto mine. Your history is very American centric and painted chinese as victims. While in reality, racism was and is pretty much everywhere, done by everybody!

For example when Paul Eugen Bleuler identified schizophrenia.. it was a long known phenomenon but people simply dismissed it.   24. Meanwhile East Asians in particular the Chinese is not free from racism either. 92% population of mainland China is still Han Chinese. You can at least see many people of African and Asian descent can become important figures in that United States of 'Murica, including to be one of its presidents, but it's rarely seen a non han-Chinese like immigrants from India or Pakistan can became important figures in mainland China because they are not given the equal opportunity.

North Africa and Egypt were mostly Christians or local belief adherents before Arab conquest (Rashidun & Umayyad Caliphate). Ethiopia has been already a Christian state even before England even took step in maritime prowess. That's just example. Plus, the missionaries came separated from the government.
