You leave your wallet on a park bench, the city-govt is responsible for that ?
Experienced hackers can hack anything (that is software, not a provider, not a device). Not even a security company is safe from that.
If a service asks for more than a user-id, a password and mail-account to send you access info, forget about that service.
One can setup a quick email account for that and delete it after.
If one needs to do shopping online and give out cc-number, address, phone number and what not, maybe it is time to think about physical shopping again.
Since social media nobody cares about anything anymore, until a warning like this goes out. It will be forgotten in a week, and the game continues.
Keep sending data which can be connected to you, but don't complain that others are responsible for your own actions.
