China will never be that. If not happy, that's too bad. China is caring less and less what western countries think.

@PeterLang-ls7sv you claim western judicial system is 'fair'. Are you sure? TikTok and Huawei have gone to court to no avail. Where was the evidence? None. As for China, plenty of western companies go to court in China. Does that mean they should always win? And democracy has many, man shades. India claims to be world's largest democracy. But that's a joke. It's clearly an electoral autocracy (check what that means)

@NickPYates there is no need to assume. Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm, Intel all have access and good sales in China. As for independent court system, does your country really have that? Why is then a constant fight to appoint partisan judges on the supreme court? Even your press is fully controlled by a couple families. Heard of Murdoch? As for the Japanese, did you send anyone to fight on the ground? 30m Chinese gave up their lives fighting the Japs. Don't go tell stupid tales, will ya? As for poverty, did you work relentlessly day in, day out for 4 decades? Or did you attack China when it was weak, force sold it opium, creating chaos? (how is fentanyl working out for you in the 21st century?)

@b3arwithm3 really? Facebook and Google are welcome in China IF they follow local laws. Google chose not to and withdrew in 2009 while FB was used to gather terrorists. As for other companies, go ask how important China is for Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Starbucks, Nike , Boeing, caterpillar, McDonald's Volkswagen, BMW, BASF, Apple, LVMH, Siemens etc etc. Ask them whether the billions of profits they make from China annually are being torpedoed.

@NickPYates it went OK. Do you see Chinese officials queuing up to go to your country to 'normalize relations'. Almost the entire Australian cabinet is trying to or has already gone to China in the last 6 months. That's after literally bitchin' every week for 3 years about why the chinese were not picking up your calls. That says it all. So, don't go deluding yourself that you are coming from a 'position of strength' or whatever.

@edvoon @edvoon again, why do you think China needs to 'gain acceptance' from the west? You start your argument with a 'colonial subject mindset'. As for factories leaving China, that's been greatly exaggerated by the west and India for obvious vested reasons. Majority of the factories are not even western factories. Many are either local outfits or outsourced facilities that make stuff for western companies. You seem to not understand that. As you don't seem to know that exports make up less than 18% of china's GDP now compared to over 50% a couple decades ago. But Check the sudden increase in ASEAN trade with US and EU. Chinese companies are clearly routing exports through countries like Vietnam and Indonesia. As for cultural exports, Hong Kong' scene was going downhill way before Xi Jinping while Korea and Japan are mere colonies of the US with foreign bases in what's nominally their soils. China WILL NEVER sell out like they did. The West thought the could change China in their image and treat it as a vassal. 5000 years of civilization with countless successful or attempted invasions by outsiders said they would fail and the west did. You must have been brought up in an ex-colony of the west or been compromised by your environment... it's quite obvious actually.

There is no real need to promote 'soft power' to the west. The only non-western, non-Christian countries who can change western views are those that decide to become vassal states like Korea and Japan and even India nowadays The strategy has changed for China and its called.. Who cares?
