There a numerous Chinese chips on the mainland compatible with Linux / open source based desktops. Been around for a number of years now. China uses them in all sensitive environments including building of supercomputers and on their space missions

Huawei is back with 5nm Kirin 9006 just announced. Not sure how they did it.

Astounding that the US threatens to sanction (complete with illegal private company blockades) and also tariffs the 2nd largest economy in the world at 18T USD. Their playbook is for much smaller economies and will end up hurting not just China but the US itself in major ways. They haven't been living with the times.

@truepersona6804 why don't you at least try to look it up before you pronounce? They are using stacking I believe. And also, both TSMC and Samsung no longer make chips for Huawei. Huawei started a new plant and it also uses SMIC

Check out Zhaoxin or Loongson CPUs. Maybe a few years behind Intel current offerings but certainly far, far ahead of Pentium level or Core2Duo level. Alibaba is also making chips for its own use and cloud offering. So is Tencent.

@apvial it was a "round the world" hypersonic glide weapon entering from the south Pole. No one has done this before. Learn a bit before you spout. And it only missed by about 20 miles which is a superb result for a first test and even at that distance, you won't know it missed with a nuclear payload!

We will be living in very interesting times next 10 years or so as China races to produce its own commercial planes, chips, industrial software etc and work at decreasing the use of the USD plus kick out all American companies such as Boeing, Caterpillar, IBM, Coke, Starbucks, Nike, Oracle etc from doing biz in China (tit for tat) . Hmmm..what would the US sell then? More soya beans and cabbage!?
1
@stevenmatosu9321 yup but people are saying huawei has a large stash of unfinished 5nm that TSMC could not finish before the embargo. And now they've found ways to finish them. Those are speculations though.

@MeiinUK Huawei was in the UK when what happened? ARM is just the base framework architecture. What you do with it, how you design a chip for that architecture is key. That's what chip companies do including Qualcomm, Samsung, Huawei(HiSilicon), mediatek etc. How would Huawei know what All its competitors do!? I think you do not understand what ARM is. What does it have to do with Huawei 'network'!?

@stevenmatosu9321 4000-5000 years of UNBROKEN, continuous civilization points to a different outcome than your uninformed one.
1
@stevenmatosu9321 you are confused yourself pal. There is nothing 'dynastic' about the people who fled to Taiwan. The last Chinese Dynasty ended for good in 1912 after more than 4000 years of imperial rule. China was ruled by decidedly 'undynastic' folks after, including the folks who fled to Taiwan. Are you trying to rewrite our history?? Lol
1
@apvial I see you are believing western propaganda. Meanwhile, all the loudmouth Anglo leaders plus the new German buffoon are "fighting from home'. Lol

DO DO DO DA DA DA based on the architecture. Go find out. And those chips are the basis of many Chinese super computers. Go check how many are in the Global top 20.

@16vjtdalfa and of course you have LOTS of evidence of Huawei using backdoors in their products? You must know a lot cause even The British Intelligence couldn't find any despite having open access to Huawei products and codes. Stop trolling, little guy.
1
@16vjtdalfa how would the chips be programmable for spying purposes if they are produced inside China? Enlighten us with your technical chops.
1
@16vjtdalfa and China isn't implementing this because of 'spying concerns'. This has been in the works since Donald Trump trade war in 2018. It is to secure supply chain.
1
@16vjtdalfa dunno where you are going with all your arguments.
1
@16vjtdalfa why don't you search for China made chips that i have given you the names for? They are made on the mainland . And not sure why this is turning political! Maybe that's your angle?
1
@16vjtdalfa OK.. You must be right. 🤔
