Comments by "KK C" (@k.k.c8670) on "TikTok CEO Testifies On App's China Ties and Security Risks | WSJ Tech News Briefing" video.
The hostility shown towards the TikTok CEO was astounding and bordering on uncivilized. Shameful lawmakers.

@tooltalk China isn't just manufacturing for the world. Plenty of American companies are making money hand over fist in China. Apple itself derives almost 25% of its global iPhone revenues from China.

@romagman what point? You are using a Meta product (YouTube) to post this, right? What the difference in privacy? Anyway, regardless of viewpoint, there is no need for lawmakers to act like goons.

@YT-mp7ei that's a falsehood. Google and Meta chose to exit the chinese market cause they didn't want to follow local laws. Hence they were banned. Tiktok on the other hand is bending over backwards to follow the (non existent) US laws. And Amazon, ebay, Yahoo etc were never banned. They were just out competed. In fact Amazon is still there.

@nesttea2239 only the naive (or an Indian) would believe this. And China has been moving up the manufacturing ladder anyway. The traditional manufacturing/assembly has been moving to lower cost countries like Indonesia, Vietnam and now India for many years now, often owned by the same people.. Still, no way apple will be moving out of China which represents 25% of the iPhone global revenue.

@kjp8196 really? Check what the US did to Japan and specifically Toshiba in the 80s/90s. Check also what it did to France and specifically, Alstom in the 2000s/2010s. The US and India are basket cases of coercion of foreign companies. The latter is even worse. Rule of emotions and tantrum, not law.

@edenassos fine, my mistake. It doesn't change my point, duh.
