  4. The nicobar/Andaman islands are not in the Malacca Straits and besides, they are 1) themselves not that near to Indian mainland 2) close to a major Chinese port in Myanmar that can easily be repurposed to a full military base.

PLAN has 100 modern Destroyers/Frigates (types 055, 052 and 054) that can all go to the Gulf of Aden or even the Baltic Sea, 70+ submarines, 4 LHDs with another 5 on the way and 2 carriers (soon 3). Ships can refuel if needed at Singapore, Myanmar, SriLanka, Pakistan, Iran and Djibouti while submarines at Singapore, Pakistan and Djibouti. The numbers you have in mind are for the Indian Navy, not the PLAN. And many more coming online each year. Fleet 3 aircraft carriers 4 landing helicopter dock 8 amphibious transport docks 32 landing ship tanks 33 landing ship mediums 51 destroyers 49 frigates 70 corvettes 109 missile boats 26 submarine chasers 17+ gunboats 36 mine countermeasure vessels 79 submarines 19 replenishment ships 232 auxiliaries

Again you are thinking of Indian Navy. Lol. How many mig21 flying coffons have you lost in the last 2 years? 5? 8?
