  1. Nuclear reactor isn't absolutely necessary as long as range is enough and it can power all its needs. As for number of aircraft, it it cause China uses j15 which is a heavy (large) fighter. When the j31/35 is ready, they will fit a lot more on the carrier cause it is much smaller.

  2.  @donovanulrich348  sure but like I said, China's aircraft carriers are not traveling very far out from China itself (compared to US carriers). In any case, China is currently building a nuclear powered flat deck (type 004/005). At the moment, only Us and France have nuclear powered carriers
