  1. Very misleading. China subsidized EVs for buyers up to 60k RMB (USD 8k) for certain models meeting set criteria. Never USD 16k. And even that stopped last year 2023. That subsidy was available for all makes, including foreign brands (including Tesla). The up to 8k USD past subsidy is not very different from US subsidy when buying an EV.

  2. Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai received even more help from the Chinese govt when it was setup than domestic manufacturers, including cheap loans, land, water, electricity l, help with hiring workers, tax breaks etc
