How would you increase trade with India? Just go to any Walmart, Best Buy or Target in the US and tell us how many things there India makes.

@samiitb sorry you are mistaken.. In the 70s and 80s, it was the overseas Chinese business community from Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc that financed and helped China established the initial factories and such. The Americans came much later, even later than the Japanese who were the 2nd batch

@Edward4Plantagenet dude...you are confused. Check the term outsourcing and learn who actually owns the factories. China has millions of domestically owned factories that produce for global companies. Not all factories are owned by those global companies. Indians must stop asking for free deals and actually make something and get orders.

@toocooltocare1444 Japan never made the breadth of products that China makes. Actually, india wanting to manufacture things for the world is OK. What is not is the incessant boasting which has no basis in reality. Indians are the only ones who'd shout about being a superpower when it is clearly not even close to being one. You just have to go around social platforms or Indian media! Till today China insists (yes insists) its a developing country. Japan and post-war Germany never boasted so much. Herein lies the issue... More doing and less talking/boasting please. Thank you.

@wlee9888 it's already been done. Lots of tariffs on Chinese goods. What did India do? You can't expect people to hand feed you. Plus the American companies must trust you to be able to produce in quantity, quality and on time.
7
@wlee9888 'a lot' is an exaggeration. There are literally 100s of thousands of factories in China up and down a given supply chain. That's the thing Indians don't get.... It's an ecosystem with private sectors, govt and universities that took 3 to 4 decades. Trillions in infrastructure investments, education, marketing to western companies (marketing not handouts). It is not just a couple American companies that make the headline. Even Vietnam is doing better than India in that regard, albeit the fact it is still near to Chinese supply chain

@justpreeth you get what you are willing to pay for. Why don't you try to pay for more expensive Chinese goods if you have the rupees? . You want cheap, fast and good? You can only pick 2 out of the 3. Duh. I won't even entertain your ridiculous statement about Indian goods (what goods!?) being better. Lol
2
@justpreeth India exports mostly IT coolies (yes white collar coolies) and laborers. You are so proud of a few ethnic Indians becoming CEOs. Now contrast that with over 100 Chinese companies in global fortune 500. Chinese do not prioritize becoming workers, no matter how high ranking, in western multinationals. Indians have colonial subject mindset.

@niteeshdubey5187 everything India has is THE BEST! Lol. 🤣🙄🙄
2
@sayantabanerjee3856 Indian.. Always boasting (usually about the future) .. Nothing much to show for today. Sad!

@wlee9888 China's productivity falls? Heard of climbing the value ladder? Heard of AI and Robotics? Heard of massive overseas investments by China? In any case, how would supply chain getting closer to markets help India?? Today it takes more time to transports inputs/products between cities/ports in India than from China to most parts of Asia. Indians, as always, are trying to run before walking. And fail miserably all the time cause they have green eyed monster disease. Can't think logically and calmly. Emotional.
1
@niteeshdubey5187 yup. You are the best at boasting and delusion. The whole world knows otherwise except Endians 🙄.
1
@sayantabanerjee3856 how about for once, deliver something ahead of wildly boasting? What exactly has India 'achieved' extraordinarily in the last 20 years for the vast majority of the country? Your gdp per capita at 2000 usd has barely kept up with inflation making you a very poor country, your infrastructure is still in dire condition, your make-in-india noises have been sputtering along. Your population is still undernourished and under-educated. Your industry is not exactly great. You are still dwelling in religious and communal politics. I remind you that India has 1.4B people and not just a few millions of English speaking people!
1
@youttt27 I invite you to visit China and see the operations of companies. Look at the country. Democracy does not mean lack of development like in India. Plenty of democracies are doing OK. Don't make this kind of blanket statement, pal. Vietnam is also a community country, by the way.

@indianlenmon_5571 what do you mean by the US govt does not let Indians good in!!?
1
@devanshmehta3205 really? Like which?
1
@samiitb no. In the 70s and 80s it was the overseas Chinese from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia , Taiwan and Hong etc who provided the capital and know how to start light manufacturing for export, then came the Japanese and to some extent the Europeans. The US came in the 3rd wave.

@roshanthapa8487 in have already posted this but here goes again ...

@m40plus98 why are you proud of 'Indians' being CEOs of AMERICAN companies? First of all, almost all of them are American citizens. Second, while you Indians love working for your masters, china has built over 100 Fortune 500 companies. Owned by China / Chinese citizens and run by Chinese with global reach.
1
@roshanthapa8487 why must the weat show any 'intention' to buy your goods? If you make competitive, products, people will buy. As simple as that . Indians are always looking for guarantees.
1
@ritugupta85 yes.. Vietnam is attracting more FDI and factories. Vietnam GDP per capital is 75% higher than India's. India is a very poor country. That's a fact
1
@ritugupta85 how many mouths does India need to feed for that little 3+ T GDP?
1
@ritugupta85 sure.. They are
