Do you also know that Boeing, McDonnell Douglas etc were around long before Airbus? Same goes for Chips. And oh, Agriculture has been around for over 10000 years!

  8.  @VVayVVard  well.. How and where does one draw the line? EU subsidizes a whole gamut of goods, services in many sectors. Cheese, Milk, Seafood, wine, Meats, EVs (yup, why else would Musk open a gigafactory in Berlin!?), agriculture and many, many more. And as I said in my initial post,they often call them by different names such as funding, support packages, export credits, grants etc etc. Are they 'essential to national security'?

  9.  @VVayVVard  you can just swap CCP with EU or US or Tesla or Google in your post about collecting personal info. It will be true, if not more so. Western governments may need to go to court but eventually, they can also force their companies to cough up anything they want. And then there are the FBI, NSA, Mi5, CIA, Mi6, 5 eyes etc.... They don't event ask for any permission. If you are going to bat for privacy and what not, best to be objective and treat everyone the same instead of just hating China.

  11. Germany should be the first EU country not to support the presumably soon-to-come protectionist measures against Chinese EVs. German ICE cars sell by the millions in China. They are losing the EV race there but whose fault is that? For decades, even Chinese govt, State-owned enterprises, Taxi companies etc and their employees bought tons of VW, BMWs and Audis. Just make good EVs at various price points and they will do well in China... And in Europe too. Compete!.
