I was born in the 90s and been a video game music geek for my entire life. I have recently been getting into 70s and 80s funk, disco, house, rock and more and yeah, the difference between popular music today and then is astounding. It's so much more complex and interesting than the mass-produced, oversimplified stuff of today. There of course is still a ton of awesome new music in more niche places, but yeah, mainstream stuff is very...boring most of the time.
