Except it's the only way to learn how to deal with it when you're randomly exposed to a trigger in life. I've had dozens of phobias and worked through them all. The worst one was of vomit. Because you can't necessarily avoid it. I worked through it and now im over it. I know others whose parents try to help them avoid any trigger of that phobia and now they can't even EAT because the encouraged avoidance reinforces the idea that it is too frightening to confront. And ANYTHING can be a phobia or trigger. It is absurd to expect every human to know and be responsible for others' mental safety--which is actually MY biggest trigger after having been held responsible for my parents' mental health my entire childhood.
