Did you listen to what Marshal Timoshenko said at 17:31 ? The fall of Moscow would not have stopped the Soviet war effort.
3
Because the USSR invaded Poland two weeks later (17 September 1939). Britain and France were already at war with Germany (since 3 September 1939). It would have been suicide for Britain and France to fight Germany and the USSR at the same time.
3
How so? Stalin and his government would simply move to another city.
2
Exactly.
2
No. The Allies would not wait for Germany and Japan to attack in 1942. The Allies too would become stronger, the Soviets would mobilize more troops, more tanks, more planes. The US too would be more prepared for dealing with Japan in 1942.

@garycombs5721 Moscow was a huge city. Taking it would have required months of fighting, street by street. Victory was not guaranteed for the Germans.
2
Because the Japanese army was stuck in China, only the Navy was free to attack. Also the Soviet Siberian divisions were better equipped than the Japanese Kwantung army. Also there were no oil fields for Japan to use in Siberia yet. Oil fields were discovered in Siberia the 1950s and 1960s.
2
No, Norwegian oil was undiscovered yet.
1
@oghazal Swedish iron ore was transported to Germany through Norwegian ports, Britain wanted to block those ports, that's why Germany fought for Norway.
1
Yes, the USSR needed Caucasian oil even if the USA gave oil to the USSR through Lend-Lease.The Red Army had huge mechanized units on the ground and in the air, thus it needed a lot of fuel. US war aid came through the ports of Vladivostok, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and through Iran.
1
Because Hitler wanted to destroy the Communist USSR before the Soviets themselves would be fully ready for war.
1
They would have won the war and keep Europe under Nazi terror.
1
But if Hitler did not invade the USSR and western Europe remained under Nazi occupation to this day, it would have been horrible for occupied western European nations.
1
Even if they knew, that was not enough, they needed to extract that oil, transport it to Europe and then refine it. And all that would have required a lot of time.
1
Because some of Hitler's generals insisted on capturing Moscow instead of the oil fields. Halder even changed the plans for Barbarossa in order to capture Moscow.

There were no oil fields discovered in Libya in the 1940s. Only later in the 1950s and 1960s oil was discovered in Libya.
1
Because they believed they will win nonetheless, even if Halder went against Hitler's plan. The Red Army appeared to be crumbling in July-October 1941 and the German High Command vastly overestimated the capabilities of the Wehrmacht in the USSR, this situation gave the Germans too much optimism in 1941.
1
The war would have been prolonged for another 2 or 3 years. Even so, achieving victory would have been difficult for the Axis since it was already fighting on several fronts.
