  1. I was a poor white (biracial Hispanic) child in VA bussed into a rich black school in 68-72. All my best friends were black. My 1st day of school my dad told me I was gonna hear a word I'd never heard and meet people I'd never seen before and he better not hear I ever treated them differently or say that word. Since he was my hero and I was a daddy's girl, I listened. My mom loved Nat King Cole & Greg Morris. My first album was More Hits By Diana Ross and the Supremes, Michael Jackson waa my crush. I got in trouble for sitting in the back of the bus with my friends singing J5 songs and was told to move back to the front. I told the bus driver if he didn't back off I would tell my dad and he'd come to the school and cause trouble. Now that I'm a Christian, I gravitate to Spirit-filled, older black women, my sistas!
