Well it would be funny if for example it were referencing a relatable issue people had at the time (For example, not knowing which room is yours? or dogs being nosy). Our parallel soon to be obscure might be a joke about... "I got a call back from the guy you wanted me to interview today" "Oh? What did they give you?" "It was just the fax". Or if I made a Outer Worlds joke about drawing your weapon every time you went to talk to someone, or open a door. Or, if there was a comic featuring a man traveling the world and then being shot in the knee by an arrow. ...Or your mom. That last comment is also an example that would confuse someone without any knowledge of the existing context.
