  1. They are hiring because they lost so many captains to early retirement during the shut down. But they didn't leverage the shutdown to do basic training and succession planning so... "oops, I guess we have to abandon our 'hire from within' policy. We need more pilots. How could we know, it was unprecedented and no one could predict the seemingly blatant effects"

  2. Yeah, I just decided not to go on the trip. Part of it is definitely the price gouging on fuel right now. ...And everyone is trying to go on trips after the lockdowns.
