  2. I would say a good esc has it's uses on dry pavement to improve high speed cornering, but it is not very effective on ice and snow.

  3. Many modern driving assist systems are crappy in that they are designed to do what people should already be doing. For example hill start assist on a manual, the added brake causes the engine to strain harder at starts than it would if you were good at hill starts (because it has to overcome the brake every time). So it doesn't surprise me that esc might hamper what a driver was attempting to do. Especially if it was made by a north american FCA brand. I always turn TCS and ESC off... when in a car that has them.
