  3. Of course an early travel ban helped it was the logical and smallest step to take. I assumes we were taking steps. Why travel precautions and quarantines were not immediately taken by most countries is beyond absurd. This isn't the first time humans have dealt with pandemics. Then even after we started precautions by air we took no precautions against US entrants until the lockdown. ...The US where most of our cases were traced to. This was wholy negligent and it's us who get to suffer for the incompetence of our governments.

  4. This isn't 100 years ago people are connected, people are educated to a level they have never been before. How can police, military, politicians, or anyone stand for such willful destruction and murder which will only guarantee loss of life of someone you care about?

  5. People climb on statues year 'round, they are only making an issue of it now because it is convenient for their narrative. That said, since that first day the protesters had been keeping an eye on it and I have heard of no issues (news or bystanders) from then until days in, when they put the fence up. So the fence seemed to be more of a move for optics rather than a genuine concern.

  8. I could see it decades ago also. If you are going to receive blame if things go awry, I would also want to confirm that care would be taken for everyone's sake.

Though whether people agree with the protest or not, everyone has known for decades and should remember, the 'news' is more about creating a narrative to attract attention than reporting events. So no matter if it's something you support or not, know that it's likely not quite as reported. Even clips can be edited and misconstrued without speech. So if you can corroborate with raw footage or trusted first hand reports great. But if you can't, skepticism is crucial.

  10. This is ridiculous WHY WAS THIS NOT A THING A YEAR AGO it was a no brainer. But the government should have been and should be paying for it, it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than a shutdown and CERB payments. But noooo.
