  15. I have to wonder if most of why the BAR was faster was just because of the familiarity. Not only with the BAR itself but also the comfort with the style of magazine from the use of modern rifles. That said it also could have been faster had they done the release with the right hand and the reload/charge with the left.

  30. I think we would be all far better off ignoring the 1911 and dedicating that time on fixed barrel designs. ...But this is right next door to that so I am somewhat happy. Because tilting barrel is dumb (a functional idea at the time, cheap, but limiting in the long term). But the conversion causes complexity, (and resulting expense) and means less refinement. It is too bad it got pushed beyond a reasonable price though.

  40. By this point these guys can basically just copy every converted auto-bolt gun that came before. Even some of those that turned out to be good (relatively) but too late. As well as actual automatic rifles.

  50. When deciding whether or not to make something available online the question is, will the profit from increased accessibility outweight the cost of piracy. Typically the answer is yes. However this is a specialty book and if you can order a hard copy online typically you aren't going to get people in that niche market of reference materials who won't buy it because it isnt digital. However, now and then there are exceptions but when there is an exception in digital sales it often is not by a small margin. If it becomes popular outside the intended audience, everyone who can buy it, will buy it. Where as a physical book creates impediments. Anyway, hard copies are fine, just don't think it will prevent piracy entirely (which is why most opt for offering a digital option)
