It depends on what you mean by "big power" 1000-2000hp that just isn't realistically streetable anyway... No 700hp... Yes. But I agree that swapping to the right engine it is a better value. Because why spend $30,000 rebuilding an old engine, when you could buy a new engine for $700 and add be ahead of where you would be with $6,000 of mods. Or apply some forced induction and get those absurd numbers.

I have to disagree that newer engines being more powerful and efficient mean they are less durable. Often efficiency improves durability. But on many, there is the issue of saving money by triming every bit of excess.they can get rid of. Subsequently reducing the margin of safety, often to the point where the stock output is near the limit of the drivetrain.
