I swear this was debunked years ago (I guess it takes a long time to correct misconceptions). The average (not bad) car today gets 300,000 to 400,000 kms. A bad car would get at least 100,000. A very reliable car will get over 400,000 km. That did not used to be the case, and there will always be lemons. That said, the reliable cars of yesterday may not be as reliable today. Especially Toyotas.
