this is why standards for officers should not be lowered just to get more people to apply. memphis admits to hiring these officers AFTER they changed standards. they would have never made it before this happened. as a result of the 2020 riots, the number of people applying to be cops has drastically lowered... i mean, who would want to put their life at risk to help people when no mayor, council, or the public has their backs? the good cops are suffering because of the bad policies.

@partyfavors9238 thats not true... police don't only serve the rich.. .lol. and not all police act like these thugs did. in fact, most do not act like this. all people make choices.

@JohnHVet as a person of color, i disagree. i've never had an encounter with an officer that made me feel in danger for my life. as a former local elected official, i dealt with officers, too. we've never had these issues, internally or in public. i agree with you on that we need to know if the initial stop was legal or not. no media wants to report that. the released video looked like a gang jumping on the guy... all first responders need to be able to keep their emotions in check.

@JohnHVet lol, i wasn't holding office my entire life. only one 4 year term, ended 2012.. so none of that applies. i was a teenager and young adult long before, been pulled over for lights being out... i'm still alive. i've been given sobriety test when sober... i complied... fought it out in court, cost me a lot of $$, but i was right. point is, if cops are wrong, live to fight it out legally. cops patrol areas where more crime is reported. in the places where cops have ticket quotas, they tend to get more adherent to pulling people over for any infraction.. so they can meet it. there are bad policies, too...

@foxbodyblues6709 there are bad policies. people make choices. we'll have to agree to disagree.

@YouAreStillNotablaze let's eliminate all law enforcement jobs, then... is that your solution? or maybe we should make only xx women be cops... lol. whats your solution to stopping crime? if people won't follow laws and rules... who do you want to enforce them? plenty of people can complain... few give solutions. not all cops act like this, not even a majority. humans make choices, even in the heat of the moment... reactions are emotional choices. i think criminals should stop running when they get caught, lol.. but reality says humans will do anything to not be caught.

@YouAreStillNotablaze it does have flaws, but still better than most other countries abilities to handle these things. no other country i'd rather live in, still. i'm all for more training, too. especially emotional control so cops don't overreact when stupid criminals try to run from being caught. i don't think its our system, i think its the people in it. some want to think collectively, others think critically. by design, our system is more just now than before... but its being take too far to the other extreme now- no cash bail, catch and release, some want no jails... finding the place to make everyone happy and no one happy, compromising... is not part of conversation at all.

@rizeagle33 lmao.. and you're a white dude. of course you wouldn't experience racism... you don't seem very smart. we don't rank at the bottom on any of the things you mentioned... lol. you can hate america all you want, seems like you need to move to one of those countries you think is better than try to change the entire country to fit your beliefs.. lol. i'm keeping my back ass here with my family...

@foxbodyblues6709 sorry for generalizing. i meant in democrat ran cities where crime seems to rampant. the places where people are calling for defunding them because they feel like all cops are the same.. lol. yes, i agree cops work hard and just doing their jobs most days, and the bad ones are certainly glorified in the media to make it seem like its the same in other cities... ofc, it isn't. policies are bad, not police...

@YouAreStillNotablaze no, i replied to you: what's your solution to bad police officers?
1
@rizeagle33 i'm not, but thanks for sharing your opinion.

@rizeagle33 lol, please... the us is the only country you're paying attention to. we are 32nd in rank of countries with gun violence issues... 32nd. the rest of the modern world still practices slavery legally, man... do you bother to research anything at all for yourself?! as a person of color, go to china or other asian countries. go to the scandanavian countries and try to buy land there. only japanese can own land in japan. you're brainwashed by media and peers. go see the rest of the world, then your opinion might be more validated. america is the best country because of the constitution and its citizens, all colors, all religions, all beliefs. you think there's 'pride month' in the middle east? lol... you need to experience the world before you condemn the freest country on the planet.

@realcomedyperrycoalmon9407 i agree. bring back mental institutions! then police wouldn't be called in all the mental health crises.
