it took america 87 years to end slavery, unlike the country america was born from... england! 87 years of slavery in america, before that, its on the king and queen... they should pay the reparations.

@Cmorrison626 they got paid reparations because the american gov't put them in camps during the war... which is unconstitutional, too. they were american citizens. that is why they got paid, nothing to do with how they came to the country.

@Cmorrison626 no spin to it, prior to 1776, america was not a country. 87 years from independence to freedom... madam cj walker is a good example of success... sucks that blacks did a lot but never got recognition. blame the writers of history for that, but not all blacks ended up poor and carried that on for generations, too. reparations are not necessary.

@lesliemiles4053 nc does not make laws for the country, only their own state. citizens should vote racists out of office, easy fix.. run for office and change it yourself.. lol

@lesliemiles4053 i'm more educated than a person should be. those policies did not spread to every state. those policies never became the norm here... as in other countries. rich people who owned business, owned slaves, not all americans, or all states. not all white people are racist or have racist beliefs.

@lesliemiles4053 reading comprehension is a thing. i never stated my race, its not anyone's business and irrelevant to my opinion. i am black, for the record. you assume to know my race by my opinion... and that is what is wrong with media, and some peoples' interpretations of what was said (written, in this case). if you were as educated as you believe you are, you would understand america's constitution is the best written document on the planet for all citizens, today. that is why so many people (of color, might i add) are trying to still come here to live. if you were educated, you would know the first africans sold as slaves were sold by african tribal leaders because they were enemies, thieves, or the chief just didn't like them.. lol. servants and servitude is not a new concept, nor one specific to america.. and still happens today in a lot of other countries, as does systemic racism, south africa, is one place.. china is another... if you were educated, you would know the first slave owner in america was black, and he owned more than 1,000. you would also know slavery was not a part of every state and more white people fought against this to change it, continuously. underground railroad was mostly white people (abolitionists). and you're welcome.

@lesliemiles4053 if you do not like the policies lawmakers in your state make, then vote differently! run for office yourself! do something other than blame everyone for your situation.. or the situation you seem to assume everyone has... i don't blame those issues on citizens, i put them at their source, the elected people. i do blame citizens for their own choices that might lead them into unfortunate circumstances such as breaking laws, having children before marriage or at least, being financially stable beforehand. i believe in accountability and self responsibility.

Ynwa6 yep, in some places, and those were outlawed country wide. we cannot control people's minds and thoughts.. and living in a country where we all HAD to believe the same things, i want no part of... those people can move to a country like that that already exists. long live our constitution and those who support it!

Ynwa6 who is 'you'? i'm black, so you should check yourself here... lol... do not ever assume a persons' race from typing. this is the problem in the world, right now.. people assuming everyone is something without knowing anything. i thank my mother and father for being married before they had me, teaching me how to become a successful human being without the handouts from the government, including student loan debt. guess that means i have black privilege? world history is full of conquests, it is how nations, kings, popes, and emperors gained more land. there have been wars over religions, races, and creeds... try learning more history to understand the future, maybe? spewing nonsense rhetoric means no one listens to you...

Ynwa6 lol.. well, i talked about reparations for slavery... and in america, only blacks were called slaves, the other migrants were called indentured servants, even if the treatment was the same in some cases... as far as the differences in spellings, happened around the 1800s when noha webster decided to spell english american words different than his british counterparts. i love our history.
