@NanaB-h4q before anyone gets raises, performance must be assessed. that applies to teachers, elected people.. and anyone working a job.

lol, citizens wanted this! these elected people forget WHO they work for! the only thing that is affected by a shutdown are national parks and federal employees, who will still be paid while they are not working! paid by tax dollars... lol! only gov't workers still get paid when they're laid off... time to join the real world.

@jarynn8156 they get paid! they get backpay, too. federal workers are the only workers who get their money, no matter what. if you got laid off from an employer, you don't get benefits or pay, so why should federal workers our taxes pay for?! have some sense.

@jarynn8156 they DO get paid WHILE being laid off.. or they get their back pay! no other at will job allows that! Taxes pay federal employees, and there needs to be a lot less of them. the federal gov't should never be the largest employer in this country. read the constitution.. lol.

@NanaB-h4q lol, no. teachers are paid by the schools, most under unions.. who don't fire the bad teachers so good teachers get the same pay. explains why our education system is so bad right now. worse since covid. no one should get raises not based on each individuals' performance! why would you pay good employees the same as you pay the bad ones?! business 101.

@NanaB-h4q yes, our taxes pay for the education system we have.. but teachers' unions decide teacher's salaries, not based on merit but by seniority so bad teachers make as much as great teachers.. that needs to stop! teachers' unions are a lot of the reasons our kids are failing in public schools so bad.. too many administrators and not enough freedom to fire the bad ones. the federal education system needs to be ended and states need to decide where the voters are, directly!

@jarynn8156 citizens want less federal gov't, it should never be the largest employer in the country, only socialist and communist countries do that! less redundancy, less people paid by taxpayers, less federal government.. more self governance! read your constitution and do YOUR CIVIC duties.. lol!

@NanaB-h4q they're paid by tax dollars paid by citizens. like most employees, any raises should be based on performance.. lol! no raises for taxpayer funded positions!

@NanaB-h4q of course the unions decide their pay rates.. that's what is negotiated between reps and teachers.. lol. do you know anyone in a union at all? i've held local office, that was plenty to fulfill my civic duty. most people don't even understand our jobs as citizens. this is what we want to go back to- self governance and small gov't under balanced budgets. its simple until elected and unelected get greedy and selfish, like the decades in government people in congress. term limit all federal elected positions and unelected bureaucrats.
