One of the details that hardly gets shared but is one that would have cemented Marley's character and Scrooge's horror and the beginnings of his heart melting: was the very sight of what Marley said about never sharing what he might have shared with others in life. He bade Scrooge look down upon his sidewalk to see ghosts as fetered as Marley was and trying to help people but couldn't because they as ghosts couldn't interact with them. That is a scene that is as important as Tiny Tim's sister and brother helping him into the next room. There is only one version of A Christmas Carol I've ever seen show this explicitly.
