  1. Though there are Japanese working on human-like face and movements, I like the robot at my favorite buffet. It's called Mimo. It has simple, Japanese amigurumi facial expressions on a readout screen along with some instructions on how to use it. There are no arms, and I haven't seen it in action, but I think it is a helper to seat people so they can order. Well, maybe so they can order a soft drink since it's a buffet place. I love Mimo! If Mimo were my robot, I'd be a very happy robot owner!

  2. ​ @soup4219  Hey! We like touch and companionship! We are a gregarious species, and we make contact and connect with lots of different people and animals. And plants (and other beings). So is it any wonder that we anthropomorphize things? People have pictures of Jesus and various saints that are stylized, and yet we do a bit of anthropomorphizing there, too. The point here is that we use these images to explore the world within. People also talk to pictures of family and idols. Often, if the two meet, the imagining of this celebrity is often better than the real life celebrity. Why? Because in adoring the celebrity, we miss the fact that what we are imagining are traits within ourselves! Isn't that fantastic? Our ideals are within us!

  4. ​ @ophello  not really. If it were, our human offspring would not have to be rescued from potentially fatal outcomes. Look at any cartoon of a baby exploring the world around them and their guardian stopping bowling balls and knives from falling on the baby. Shoving stuff under, over, and around the baby to prevent more dangerous stuff. Setting a plate over a dropoff. Often the guardian takes the brunt of the imminent danger. We have horrible terrain, large animals, plants that will make you itch horribly and incessantly. Poisonous plants and venomous snakes. And don't get me started on E. coli and MRSA. Arthropods that bite, pinch, sting, and poison. This world is not built for anyone. But it does challenge us. And with our wit, and our ability to chase prey long distances, we have come to achieve much and develop and improve our tools, physical and mental.
