  1. "The Star Spangled Banner" was from a drinking song. Go figure. It sounds best done as an instrumental. The ONLY person who could sing it properly was Whitney Houston. The sentiment of the song is outdated and obsolete. Nobody is going to take over the United States. I prefer to extol the beauty and wholesomeness of our nation in beautiful song —"America the Beautiful" —with a gorgeous tune that lends itself to elegant harmonies, and can be sung by EVERYBODY! Because it is OUR national anthem, not hers or his or yours or mine. It is ours. "O Canada" and "God Save the Queen" are much more elegant and democratic than "The Star Spangled Banner."
