  1. America supported Chiang Kai Shek, which was counter to the Chinese people's choice. It makes sense to me now why, because in WWII it would undermine Japan's war efforts. As China evolved, though, America's support of him made less and less sense, except that Chiang Kai Shek was in cahoots with the American government and would do our government's bidding. Our government used him to further our agenda in the East. No, it's not right or fair. Once a country's people galvanize to forge their own country, other countries should take their mitts off of their lands. Unrest in the American people who protested American involvement in the Vietnam war and other wars was indicative of this. France should've let go of Vietnam, and America should have pulled out long before 1970.
