  1. YES! Cashiers are required to stand up all the time! Pain starts in the feet even when there's a fatigue mat to stand on. The pain builds and continues up the legs and into the lower back. It sometimes happens that it travels to upper back, too. Not much you can do about it except suffer. And, no, we can't sit down because we must turn around and bag the items. Be kind to your cashiers. They have a bad time of it.
