O dear! If they had to do that, there would be no end to the positive direction this country would go! There would be rampant cooperation! There would be cultures flourishing together! Such a disaster! 😉

Nothing about those who want everything for themselves surprises me anymore.

@daringiconoclast6547 If there is a treaty that was signed at the time and understood it meant for all time, then I believe it should be honored because it was a contract. This has nothing to do with other countries because countries outside our borders do not have a real stake in any disputes about lands within the American borders. Let them take care of their own disputes. This is a written contract and is only disputed because agents of the US government want to own the land regardless of the treaty they signed as a US government in the past. A dispute does not have the force of law that a treaty has. Yes, the treaty must be honored. No, it has nothing to do with land disputes of other countries nor they with us.

I'm glad to see a treaty between First Nations and the US being honored by the US.

mark heyne Counties elect their local judges. They are put on the same ballot you use to vote for President, Vice President, Senators, Representative, PVA, and other officers. Sometimes there is a long list of judges for civil, criminal, and family courts. Another judge or nine wouldn't make much difference. Especially since they only get appointed one at a time.

So how do you give away something that's not yours anyway?

@johncronin9540 Other countries have no stake in American lands, either through the US Government or through any of the First Nations Peoples. It is strictly a legal conflict between the Us Government and the Native American tribe with whom the original treaty was made. Any argument about applying our government actions to other countries is not germain to this discussion as it is not a parallel situation.
