Bleeding heart liberal Democrat, here: Vice President Pence kept to his oath of office for all of us at the cost of threats to him bodily. I applaud his integrity and his actions to preserve the peaceful transfer of power, preserve the government of We, the People," and protect future presidents as much as all other elected officials. His was a small task. But it means so much for our country's continued existence.

When a person is charged with a crime, they can only be held so long. Trump wasn't going to flee the country, and he does everything he can to stay in the spotlight. He wasn't a flight risk. This way he wouldn't finagle his way out of custody before evidence could be brought to the grand jury. Discovery of evidence took this past several years because there was a gargantuan amount of material to sift through. It was easier to prosecute the so-called Q Anon "shaman" with the ridiculous, tasteless, and truly insulting fur headdress. There was blatant, visible evidence of his crimes that he couldn't deny if he had the slightest chance. Donald Trump is slipperier. He used many wiggle words and implications so that no one could pin him down because of First Amendment Speech rights. And he's good at it. That's one reason why impeachment didn't work. The only thing that could work against him was evidence that he did things besides talk in theoreticals that were crimes. Thus, RICO.

"... or whatever the correct legal remedy is..." Trump isn't a lawyer, legal aid, secretary, or woman. Any one of what he's not would, first of all, know protocol for a business letter. Women in his era were taught in fifth grade or well before eighth grade how to write secretarial documents. Any one of these would have researched what the "proper legal remedy was before writing a proper-sounding business letter.

@JetstreamGW True, but the wording doesn't say: all mafia will be tried and incarcerated for mob activities." The wording of laws are specifically written to protect from certain specific illegal activities. If the activities fit the crime description, then the law applies whether it is the original intent or not.
