  1. My biggest pet peeve against HIPAA is that to me the wrong people are restricted (doctors, nurses, and EMT's), and IMO, the wrong people have access (the courts). I think it should be more detailed and defined to allow better treatment: EMT's letting doctors and nurses in the ER and PCP's history, treatment to this point, and details that would help these Healthcare providers get to proper diagnoses faster for best treatment. I was in the ER at one point (thank God I was conscious!) and an intake employee scooted his little table with computer over with consent documents to allow these providers to discuss my case. If course I signed! If I were unconscious, that would pose a problem! That's why I say the wrong people were restricted.
