When a person votes in person at their precinct, if they make a mistake, they are allowed to spoil their ballot and get a new one, while the spoiled ballot is set aside for evaluation later (I think. I don't know if they must keep count to account for every ballot issue. I opine they must keep track.) You can spoil a ballot twice. The third issued ballot is the one that ultimately stands if you spoil two ballots. And if course is the voter only spoils once, that second ballot stands. So to me, allowing voters to cure their mail - in ballots isn't any different from curing an in - person ballot by spoiling it. And, as you said, different counties have different procedures.

I was going to say these litigations and machinations would make a splendid comedy! (tragedy? Pres. Trump's Achilles heel is showing and he's hoist with his own petard!) Perhaps we could entice you to write this comedy/tragedy? Or do you think that sounding nonsensical in a novel would hurt your reputation? Of course you would change their names and yours to prevent any repercussions on yourself. You could hire a "ghost writer" to take the author name, pay them a shitload of money to take it on and... well, maybe the truth - is - stranger - than - fiction line is a better way to go. π
