  1. The question "Write backwards, forwards." is ambiguous and has 2 answers. Either "backwards" or "sdrawrof." Both are equally valid, and either answer could be counted wrong by citing why the other is right. Oh, and you might have also uncovered another thing of the culture of the time: writing versus printing. Writing can mean the act of writing something down or writing in cursive. These folks, if they had learned to write, were taught printing but not cursive writing (A.K.A. "joined-up writing" in Britain). These days, cursive writing—a staple in my day— is no longer taught in a number of schools today. Go learn it if you haven't, tho. It, along with learning long square rooting, can be useful.
