So what about the layer of ash (?) after the Cretaceous period? If dinosaurs lived up north, then they would have been adapted to the cold. So temperature can't be their only cause of extinction. That there is a visible layer of ash in the fossil records, that tells me at least a few million years of darkened skies, but also that the Earth got barrage after barrage, year after year, because that's a serious layer of rock to come from one collision or volcanic eruption. So what caused dinosaur extinction? Being bombarded by meteors? A geological upheaval and volcanic spewing across the globe that knew no end? Or what? What are the latest thoughts?
