My comment wasn't even made in response to anything you've posted so the charge that I've somehow failed to understand some part of the economic discussion as you see it is simply incorrect. I was taking issue with a much more fundamental point: people cannot simply leave their work (particularly if they are in low paid, menial jobs) because they are living from paycheck to paycheck and would very quickly be in serious difficulty if they did. Large sections of the workforce are being exploited under capital when there are viable alternatives that would enable humans to flourish and not just be worked to the bone for a pittance. I'm sorry that you this fact has somehow bypassed you.

Yes, that is something that is repeatedly brought up by those who view Johnson in a positive light: that he has a feel good factor about him that other political leaders in the UK lack. I just don’t get it. BoJo has a track record of lying, being manipulative, racist, homophobic, a power hungry psychopath…the list goes on. The whole situation is dire beyond comprehension.

And it hardly even touched upon the fact that we are destroying the planet’s natural resources at an alarming rate all in the name of economic growth (greed). Moreover, the chaos that will be created as a result of the climate crisis seems to be so daunting that politicians hardly seem to mention it. We’re pretty screwed.

You are absolutely correct but we’ve gone so far down the path of greed, the constant need for new material possessions, and capital investment creating ever more capital (something which of course is entirely unsustainable on a finite planet but very few people want to even acknowledge this) that it seems difficult to know how to reverse it all. People won’t give up their comfortable lives without a great deal of social unrest.
