Comments by "Monty Cantsin" (@MontyCantsin5) on "Brexit Britain is crumbling - time to make hard choices | Andrew Marr | New Statesman" video.
@user-lx8hv4sr4i: Well that was certainly a rather pathetic contribution towards the discussion. Due to the mechanisms by which capital exploits people, it’s simply not possible to just ‘’leave’’ as you’ve suggested.

@tomooo2637 : Huh? My comment wasn't even made in response to anything you've posted so the charge that I've somehow failed to understand some part of the economic discussion as you see it is simply incorrect. I was taking issue with a much more fundamental point: people cannot simply leave their work (particularly if they are in low paid, menial jobs) because they are living from paycheck to paycheck and would very quickly be in serious difficulty if they did. Large sections of the workforce are being exploited under capital when there are viable alternatives that would enable humans to flourish and not just be worked to the bone for a pittance. I'm sorry that you this fact has somehow bypassed you.

@paulklee5790 : Ok, troll.

Not believing a single word that was said in this clip is a very odd view to hold.
2
Yep.

We need to be aiming for zero economic growth. Constantly feeding the fire of capital is entirely unsustainable on a finite planet.

@paulklee5790 : An equally pathetic contribution. Well done.

Ok, troll.

What?

Just about the most sensible comment I’ve seen posted in response to this video. We need to be aiming for zero economic growth but don’t expect to hear that from the likes of Andrew Marr.

@deborahw.a.foulkes6059: Baffling, I agree. Equally, that fact that we simply cannot keep relying on economic growth to solve all our political problems because it is the very thing that is leading to the collapse of ecosystems and the environment around us that we need to survive.

😂

@yggtor3961: It’s a lot worse than we think.

And it hardly even touched upon the fact that we are destroying the planet’s natural resources at an alarming rate all in the name of economic growth (greed). Moreover, the chaos that will be created as a result of the climate crisis seems to be so daunting that politicians hardly seem to mention it. We’re pretty screwed.

Dreadful idea.

You are absolutely correct but we’ve gone so far down the path of greed, the constant need for new material possessions, and capital investment creating ever more capital (something which of course is entirely unsustainable on a finite planet but very few people want to even acknowledge this) that it seems difficult to know how to reverse it all. People won’t give up their comfortable lives without a great deal of social unrest.

bollocks

Not gloomy enough.

Do feel free to provide us with a list of all the Brexit benefits that we’re supposed to be experiencing.

@alphabetaxenonzzzcat: Brexit has nothing to do with this? Someone is certainly in a state of denial. 😂
