@jackpotbox : Well, thankfully that looks extremely unlikely to ever happen and rightfully so. Taking another person's life as an act of retribution is wrong.

@jackpotbox : Fighting fire with fire is not a good strategy. I'm of the view that deliberately killing humans is wrong, full stop. You seem to think killing people is acceptable. That stance seems very ethically dubious. It has also been shown that capital punishment fails to act as a deterrent against serious, violent crime. As the OP mentioned, lengthy prison sentences are preferable.
