@boeingseven6939 : I think the term you are looking for is hypothesis, not theory. In science, theories are the best explanations we have for understanding and explaining the natural world. They are grounded in facts, empirical evidence, and are subject to rigorous, repeatable experiments to test their validity. Theory is not synonymous with guesswork as it might be in everyday usage. If something is a theory forever a you put it, there's nothing wrong with that. An example might be evolution by natural selection. It looks highly unlikely that this explanation for the variation seen in living creatures will ever be falsified.
