I think the film accomplished the illustration of DV and how a person can be pulled in by charm, charisma and the status of Ryle. I also feel that it illustrated well how it can be easy to get swept up in it but then to realize after reflecting on Lilly's past and seeing her reliving the abuse in her present like her Mom. Bringing her to the realization she must get out. Another element is the emotionally and psychologically injured man who lost his brother in a tragic accident and it being a driving force in his life and how one would feel sorry for him and want love him better or more. So common in reasons people stay. I think that should have been shown earlier in the film to emphasize the lure of that instead of it being later. Then breaking the cycle ultimately. I think the film made it seem in the end Lilly did not allow Ryle to co parent their child. Only showing the building crib scene and then no more.
