Putin wants to restore the former Soviet Union power structure; to restore Russia to that former power, he needs the access to deep water ports and food production that Crimea and Ukraine provide, respectively. Unfortunately for that plan, they’re Independent nations and that kind of agency doesn’t bode well for a plan that requires 100% control. I was saying it in March ‘22, Moldova and Poland are next on the list.
