@mistareee Guns don’t make anyone safer or more in danger. It is the person operating the firearm that dictates that. And law abiding citizens that own legal firearms make the country safer.

@mistareee Sorry but there isn’t more gun violence than ever. We can look through out our history and see the downward trajectory of gun violence. It doesn’t even compare to the 90’s. The places with the highest gun homicide rates are in “blue cities”. Places that tend to be impoverished with households lacking both parents. Those areas also tend to have high restrictions for firearms. There are thousands of instances every year where a law abiding citizen is able to scare away or stop a perpetrator, because they are armed. Also, having the right to defend ourselves from tyranny, both domestic and foreign, makes us a much safer nation on a larger scale.

@mistareee In 1993 the homicide rate was 9.5 with a population of about 250,000,000. The murder rate in 2023 is at a homicide rate of 6 with +350,000,000 population. That’s weird because you made the claim more guns than ever so more gun violence than ever, but none of that seems to be true…

@debracurry612 Considering how many people stop violent attacks with a gun every year and how it keeps the government from being tyrannical, I’d say they are doing a pretty good job. If you want to find where it doesn’t work then head to a blue city.

@the7thdean1 Every city is governed by an elected city council that enacts ordinances (local laws), sets policies on land use and other matters, approves programs, appropriates funds and establishes local taxes. The city council also supervises the operations of the city government and the construction of public works. They can also create laws and ordinances that affect the use, possession and sales of firearms. Hope that helps! The cities or areas with the most gun violence or most violence overall are governed by democrats/leftists. Sure, you can blame the state if it helps your narrative. But gun violence isn’t a problem in any red city, just the blue cities. For instance NYC has different gun laws compared to every other city in New York. Then you can look at the gun homicide rate at the state level, then at the city level, and see for yourself. What’s funny about it is the anti-gun people will use the label “gun death” which encompasses accidents and suicides as well which tend to make up for more than 2/3 of all gun deaths, not homicides. Gaslighting at its finest! So it doesn’t really seem like a state issue, but I bet stats don’t matter to you.

@engletinaknickerbocker5380 I don’t a derringer, I own several different caliber pistols, a Ruger Charger, a 300 Blackout, an SKS, an AK 47 and a Lapua. I have one for every occasion. Some of them even have attachments like a grip, flash light or drum mag. I tend to have more than 30 rds on me in public. I’ll do just fine. But if I saw someone with an AK 45, I would have to approach them and ask them where they got that nearly 100 year old rifle?!? 😂

@ookiki3 Nothing is skewed. The numbers I gave are real and accurate. Yes the number is per 100k and I never said it wasn’t. I added the population to show that even after the population has grown, gun violence is still lesser than what it was. Many of the blue cities that have these high gun violence rates aren’t large, although some are. The point is, that the places with the most gun violence and homicides are in blue cities, towns and counties. Not all of the states with the highest rates are red, but the cities with the highest rates are all blue. I don’t think it’s a gun issue being that most gun owners don’t commit crimes. So it has to be a policy issue at the municipal level or something like that. Yes I am aware of what the hearing was about. Because you seem to misunderstand: gun deaths encompass homicide with a firearm, accidents and suicide. The majority of gun deaths are suicides. Gun violence encompasses actions such as armed robbery, assault and homicide. So in fact, all the information I provided was accurate and on topic.

@sunndog5715 To be fair, no other nation compares with the US in any facet. Our Constitution and the rights afforded to us are proof of that. You will definitely find the stats you want In Authoritarian nations. However, you won’t find those nations giving their citizens the right to defend themselves from both domestic and foreign violence. And that is why we are a safer country. Our violent crime overwhelmingly comes from democrat controlled cities. Those cities have strict gun laws like the countries you are referring to. It is also committed by a small demographic of our population. 13% commits over 50% of all violent crimes. That seems to be an issue in Europe as well.
